Aktor gaek George Clooney berhasil menyisihkan Leonardo DiCaprio dan Brad Pitt, dan meraih penghargaan sebagai aktor terbaik dalam ajang Critics' Choice Awards 2012 di Los Angeles, Kamis, 12 Januari 2012 waktu setempat. Clooney menyabet penghargaan itu berkat film 'The Descendents' yang dibintanginya.

Menurut Aceshowbiz, selain DiCaprio dan Brad Pitt, Clooney juga mentisihkan tiga nominator lain untuk kategori tersebut, yakni Ryan Gosling, Jean Dujardin, dan Michael Fassbender.

Aktris tersohor lain, yakni Meryl Streep dan Charlize Theron, juga harus pulang dengan gigit jari karena aktris Viola Davis berhasil menyabet predikat artis terbaik berkat penampilannya yang apik sebagai pembantu berkulit hitam dalam film 'The Help'.

Kejayaan juga diraih film 'The Artist' karena film bisu ini memborong empat penghargaan, di antaranya film terbaik, sutradara terbaik, dan desain kostum terbaik. Adapun penghargaan untuk kategori aktris pendukung terbaik jatuh kepada aktris Octavia Spencer.

Aktor Christopher Plummer yang bermain dalam film 'Beginners' juga turut membawa pulang penghargaan sebagai aktor pendukung terbaik.
